Community Bible Study Update:
Here’s a brief summary of our last night’s weekly Community Bible Study at Beloit SDA Church. We studied John chapter 20 — Jesus’ Resurrection.
The disciples didn’t get what Jesus had told them that He will rise on the 3rd day. That’s why the disciples at first didn’t believe that Jesus was alive on the 3rd day.
The disciples were gathering in a place because they were afraid that they will be killed as what Jesus’ enemy did to Him. The disciples didn’t gather to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection because they didn’t believe at first that He was alive.
Thomas doubted what the disciples had said about Jesus’ resurrection. Then Thomas believed when he saw Jesus who had appeared again to His disciples.
Thomas said to Jesus: “My Lord and my God.”
Jesus said to Thomas: “Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed; blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Towards the end of the chapter, John says:
“And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book:
But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing that ye might have life through His name.”
