Science has discovered that prayer works for weight loss. The FIRST magazine featured this discovery on their February 2012 issue.

We, as Christians, know already that prayer works!

Science identifies that prayer is a simple free way to soothe the internal inflammation that’s making women fat, tired and stress.

Weight Gain and Inflammation: Health Experts Explanation

Despite rock-solid science establishing stress as an inflammatory trigger, most slimming plans don’t take this culprit into account.

Right Prayer Fights Inflammation

A wealth of research shows that spiritual pursuits have the power to out-smart stress and its fat-packing impact.

Recent Studies and Findings: Prayer and Faith-Based Weight-Loss Programs

    • Explore: The Journal of Science & Healing
      Researchers reported that people who regularly embraced their faith through prayer and church attendance had lower levels of inflammatory markers than their secular counterparts.
    • Study – Arizona State University (Tempe)
      The study found that highly spiritual subjects had lower cortisol spikes than those who were less devout.
    • Health Education & Behavior Journal
      A research in the journal revealed that participants in a faith-based weight-loss program lost 6 times as much as subjects who tried to slim without a spiritual slant in just 8 weeks.

But here’s the real key: FAITH-BASED action soothes inflammation only if it’s consistent with your most deeply held beliefs.

So, if you’re a Christian and you’re sitting in front of an idol to recite a mantra or saying a praise (or meditating) — this will give you more stress. This spiritual strategy for weight loss won’t work because it’s in conflict with your personal beliefs.
