Documentary Video: Desmond T. Doss’ True Story Behind the Movie
The very first time I read the book “Unlikeliest Hero” was when I was in high school in the late ’70s. I love military true stories. When I read the book I could hardly put it down. My dad read it too and he was so impressed of how good the story is.
Desmond T. Doss was a Seventh-day Adventist. He joined the army as a medic. He was labelled as a conscientious objector but he didn’t agree with that and he said, “I am conscientious cooperator.”
He wanted to join the army without touching a gun and wouldn’t do any killing. He had so many obstacles in the army and was hated and persecuted by his fellow soldiers because he refused to carry a gun. But during the war he saved the lives of the very men who had persecuted him. His life was an extraordinary one.
